The chartering of a new Rotary club was brought up during the club meeting of the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong (RCM), at the Madrid Restaurant, Highway 54, Mandaluyong, because at that time, RCM was planning to endorse its Past President and DGSR, Tino Cacanindin, for the Governorship of District 3800. The Board of RC Mandaluyong unanimously approved the organization of a daughter club. Thus, Dr. Eduardo R. Dela Cruz was given the principal task of organizing the new Rotary Club of Mandaluyong East; and the Rotary Ann Association was also formally organized.
The club concentrated on the Polio Plus Campaign, the Child Immunization Campaign, the Christmas Package distribution drive, and the club’s fund-raising sweeptakes of the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong East, which was chartered on February 5, 1986 and its charter presentation and induction of officers were held on April 11, 1986 at Club Filipino, with DG Fernando Pedrosa as Guest Speaker and Inducting Officer. Total Membership was 41 members.
The first project of the club was the cleft lip and palate operations undertaken at the Trinity Hospital in Sta. Ana, Manila, participated by the surgeons from Singapore and local dental and medical doctors. The Second Project carried out was the drilling or artesian wells in different barangays of Mandaluyong in cooperation with the Association of Filipino Physicians in America.
