The club finances were strengthened out, 20% membership growth was achieved, and 3 artesian wells were donated in the various depressed areas of Mandaluyong. The Club continued its active participation in the Polio Plus Program of the District, and the Christmas package distribution program. It was also during this year that the club initiated its 90 medical/surgical mission at the San Martin de Porres Hospital in Mandaluyong, in collaboration with balik- bayan doctors from the United States, headed by Dr. Daniel Fabito. The Club hosted the GSE team from Argentina, and had a free harelip operation program at the Jose Reyes Memorial Hospital.

Diwang Silangan Foundation was Launched as the fund-raising arm of the club, and the Rotary Ann Association was also formally organized. During the colorful induction ceremonies at the Philippine Plaza Hotel, on May 15, 1987, the The Club concentrated on the Polio Plus Campaign, the Child Immunization Campaign, the Christmas Package distribution drive, and the club’s fund-raising sweepstakes raffle. The Club hosted the Save-a-Child Fun run as part of the DISCON 88 activities. Total Membership was reduced to 20, and a core group dedicated members remained.

The chartering of a new Rotary club was brought up during the club meeting of the Rotary Club of Mandaluyong (RCM), at the Madrid Restaurant, Highway 54, Mandaluyong, because at that time, RCM was planning to endorse its Past President and DGSR, Tino Cacanindin, for the Governorship of District 3800. The Board of RC Mandaluyong unanimously approved the organization of a daughter club. Thus, Dr. Eduardo R. Dela Cruz was given the principal task of organizing the new Rotary Club of Mandaluyong East; and the Rotary Ann Association was also formally organized.
